Overview

Our journey begins in Quito, Ecuador, set spectacularly in the snow-capped Andes Mountains where we will tour the city's wonderfully preserved colonial sector, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From Quito, we'll travel north across the equator through dramatic mountain scenery to stay two nights at a historic 17th-century colonial hacienda. Here we will visit the famous Otavalo Indian Market, hike in the Cotacachi-Cayapas Reserve, explore Cuicocha Crater Lake and nearby volcanoes and have an opportunity to go horseback riding.

Upon our return, we will fly to the Galápagos Islands for a 4-night cruise aboard a beautifully appointed 40 passenger yacht, the
M/V Isabela II. Accompanied by a superb staff of resident naturalists we'll observe Giant Galapagos tortoises, flocks of frigate birds and blue-footed boobies, Darwin's finches and Galapagos penguins, colonies of marine iguanas and sea lions, along with other fascinating sea life. We conclude with a tour of Guayaquil, Ecuador's largest city, and its lovely riverfront.
