Overview

The literature and culture of Ireland have always exerted a fascination well beyond, and out of all proportion to the size of, this island of six million people, north and south. The Irish gifts of language have created not only a speech that has charmed other nations (sometimes dangerously so) but a body of poetry, drama, and fiction equal to any in the literate world. Join Professor Murray Biggs for a week in the Republic's two most historic cities, Galway and Dublin, and savor the best of Ireland's poetry and theatre and some of the sites that have helped to engender them.
